Hubspot is an easy to use marketing automation tool that anyone with basic knowledge of cloud based software can use. It provides a user a wealth of features and functionality to run an online marketing campaign from start to finish. As is the case with any tool, the success comes from the amount of effort put into it while "checking and adjusting" along the way.

Why I like Hubspot:
Easy To Use
Great Analytics & reports
Excellent Education on maximizing the tool
Great Customer Service
Consistent Features and Functions Upgrades

Why I gave it 3 Stars
We SugarCRM and integration is not supported and being built out
The automation tools are substandard to others out there
Inadequate lead scoring

All in all I would recommend Hubspot and I like the direction they are going. I just wish that all of these cloud marketing automation softwares that they wouldn't just focus on Salesforce.com for CRM integration. I also believe Hubspot needs to continue to invest in better lead scoring and automation.

We decided on Hubspot as our first marketing automation partner in large part based on our needs to simply bring more leads into our sales team. Their focus on the early stages of lead generation is second to none. The tool sets reflect this and are very simple to use. The integration from salesforce is fairly seamless. The only reason it's a 4 star instead of 5 is the workflow process for nuturring leads is not as diverse as some of the competition. At some point we will have to add another vendor to fill that hole.

Hubspot - The good, bad and ugly

I fell in love with Hubspot long before using the platform. The whitepapers and blog articles are fantastic - they are truly relevant to what is going on in the marketing industry. So naturally when I was in a role to pick a marketing automation platform I decided on Hubspot.

I did my homework though - doing demos with all the other platforms out there and still my heart was set on Hubspot.

A year later we have plan not to renew the platform. How did we get there?

The good: The help support is amazing - 12 out of 10! I could pick up the phone right now and someone would help me with a screen share to walk me through what I am trying to accomplish.

More good: The platform really is so easy to operate. The system is smart - it thinks the way a marketer does and streamlines tasks that would otherwise be manual. It also helps you see the results of your marketing efforts ie. MQL > SQL > CUSTOMER

The Bad: The system is pretty much locked down and real customization is difficult and requires a full time developer to learn the platform. Which is additional costs. If you are very married to your brand to the "pixel" this is a challenge.

The Ugly: We no longer use Hubspot 🙁 - not because of budget but for internal factors.

Conclusion: Although we are moving away from Hubspot- I would fully recommend this platform to another company without a heavy sales team. The platform is designed for top of the funnel activities and consultants not hungry sales reps who are concerned about numbers. You also get back what you put into the system. You need downloadable content, webinars, infographics. With any mid-size company content is killer - people are too busy to write content and there is no budget for a content writer. Any marketing automation platform relies on having fresh downloadable content hidden behind a form. Which seems like an easy task? Wrong. Before committing to any marketing automation platform realize it's just a tool you have to do fuel it.
